Now I've flown R10'en about 20 hours. What I can say is that this wing is the toughest I have ever flown. It has amazing climbing skills and plain numbers, especially at speed. Compared with modern series of wings and open class (boom5, boom6, FR4, Edge ...) go from the R10 on both the speed and path. I have compared several times and the same thing repeats itself, I end up in front of and above the other. I will not deny that it's fun ... :-) Despite the fact that it is an open class wing feels manageable, but it's not that I do not have brakes in turbulent air. It must constantly flown actively. I would not have flown this wing had it not been for that I have 150 hours ila. last 15 months ... At the same time I must say that the wing is very solid, the tabs are not so easily and at speed cuts the air like a razor blade. In sharp vårtermikk in Hallingdal / Hjartdal (over 4 m / s average of 60 seconds) I have only had 3 small innklapper, not more than 30%. But then I have also "taken" innklappene before they have been substantially greater. A new experience is the way slider converts turbulence to rise, it makes plain that the figure is noticeably better in turbulent air, especially in the wind. The first time I swung, I got a kind of "flymaskinfølelse" more than "toy sensation. R10 is a flying Ferrari. It is yet too early to give a very detailed description but maybe it will when I get together for several hours in competitions this summer. Speaking of competitions, 12 June is the Nordic Championships / NM Vågå . 10. July is the trial-World Piadrehita, Spain and at the end of August is the British Open at St. Other in France . I'll be in all these competitions unless something unforeseen happens. In addition, there are two norgescupper, one on Voss at the end of the month and one in Hemsedal in mid-August. It will be interesting and instructive to fly such a råskinn as R10 in major international competitions. It is only the question whether there really is no advantage, since "everyone" now flying R10 and the people who end up in the top 10 also flies R10. :-)

Daily Day March 5th, 2010

Then I mixed together a little video from the Mexico trip this year, and competition Monarc Open. All filmed with a GoPRO HD camcorder:

Yes, I'm back in the old country after three intense weeks in Mexico. What was violent? Most stunning flight over this flyparadiset powerful termikkbobler that were often big as football pitches and gave up to 10 m / s lift, stunning scenery and challenging areas to fly over. But the food, wine, people and the entire Mexican attitude "mañana, mañana", which means something like "we do it tomorrow instead of today". Monarc Open exceeded all expectations, since I was 9 space with a series of gliders. There were 143 participants in the competition. I also came in as 2 best Norwegian, and there were a total of 18 Norwegians. I also had the highest placement of the series of sliders. In the competition there were 5 nødskjermkast, a collision (mid-air) and a back injury after a crash. Given that the participants gathered around. 2000 flight hours during the competition I do not think this is a bad statistic. A little more challenging, it was before the competition, when a Pole crashed on a hill. I was closest to and decided to land at him as he lay on the ground. He was badly injured and I was given first aid and summoned an ambulance. More about that here . One of the 20 days I remember particularly well is when I and Egil Fonn flew up against Toluca (approx. 50 km), and when we came up on the highlands, we had suddenly ground speed of 90 km / h, ie . tailwind of approx. 50 km / h. But landing was still okay because. open countryside and small striations / turbulence. Here, locals thought that Egil was a movie star and on the way out of the village we had to stop several places for being photographed, since word of mouth had gone. In addition we had two big bags of fresh pastries from the local bakery, as it was rumored that the "movie stars" had ordered pizzas span of 10 kids. :-) A bit of an adventure to come back too. A bit surreal to fly a great distance to the highlands and then to be ordered span genuine Mexican dinner at the Mexican countryside, and then take the bus back with the Mexican love songs to full sludge.

Eventually comes the video. Some pictures you can see here .

Video coming eventually ...

Daily Day October 26th, 2009

Now it's a long time since I've updated the blog and I apologize for that. Lots of things have happened since last, bl. a. the company I work in, Hydra Tidal, finally got money from Enova (23 NOK) to build a full-scale prototype of Morild, which is a plant that can produce electricity from kystrøm, currents and tides. It is to be launched in Lofoten until next summer. Read more about it at Hy go Tidal websites.

Otherwise, there have been some bad weather in the autumn here in Hålogaland disktriktet so it has not been so much flying that it does anything. I had however a great ride with the propeller "Tjeldøya around" . Lars Sletten was the formation blacksmith pilot the snow-capped mountains, sandy white beaches with azurblått oceans, and areas in the shadow of the sun with white frozen ground at the same time gave a cold blast in the face when we flew into those areas. Was cold when I countries but well worth it. Lars wing with flyradio and allowed the Glasgow Tower to take a lowpass of the runway (!). I bet the flight leaders stood with binoculars and grinned when the vehicle was "rushing" past at 45 km / h.

Next time we will try to land on the runway and enter the baggage ties with motor and screen and the whole package. :-) 've Probably never been done before.

About approx. 2.5 mo carry it off to Mexico. Where should I (as last year) attend Monarc Paragliding Open 2010 with over 100 of Norway's (and world's) best pilots. I just hope I get a new wing until then so that I can "hang with" plain numerically. :-)

In the summer of 2009 summarized: Para Waiting, waiting and more para para waiting. In Slovenia, where it was not a valid Nordic Championships and NM due. thunder and rain (but unofficial winners were chosen - Bjorn Skarpås won followed by Ronny Helgesen and Greg Babush from the U.S.), I went, Eggi and Jostein to Greifenburg in Austria.

This gem of a flysted located on the Dolomites, just east of Lienz. There are houses PG, PG-taxis running shuttled to the starting PG and 2 shops. Here, we logged many fine walks the 3 days we were here, with the longest trip of 53 km and 4 hours in the air. Skybar was over 3000 meters each day.

After Greifenburg we drove Autobahn north through Germany and ended up on Løkken in Denmark. Here I flew and Eggi 2 days on the famous coastal slope. A German who did not understand the rules yield suggested that I had to read the rules yield better but afterwards he admitted that it was he who had not understood the yield rules (always turn right when you meet someone, etc.). In the evening, leave a slush full Norwegian in his tent, which could improve his appearance by the Norwegians. North man was obviously thrown out.

After Løkken we drove up to Vågå to fly Vågå Open. Again, there was much para waiting, and no valid Norgescup innings, even though I came in 2nd place in the Sport class. Vågå 2 weeks after the Open, it was clear to Hemsedal Open. Here was yet another contest with only para waiting due. rain and wind. No Norgescup time. When you have so much parawaited ila. a holiday BLR Mon naturally a little tired, but it provides good training for future paramilitary wait championships. Next on the program now Monarc Open 2010 in Mexico, starting 24 January. Looking forward already.

Glider, Preddvor In recent days, it rained and thundered in a set. In fact, every day as from. Sunday has been canceled. Sunday we had expected. 1 hour before the round was canceled due. the development and rain. The rest of the day has gone into the cave visits, byshopping in the capital Ljubljana and a bit of festive activities in the evenings. It was a bit funny to hear Jostein portrayal of last night in the tent. There was pure disco outside the hotel room ifa. lightning that struck nearby. Metal sound is not to be mistaken. Woke up about. 10 times due. this. Jostein was afraid it would only be a rubber lump back of his tent, where he lay in the fully lit tent every time the lightning struck. Yes, I would not have been high in my hat either, since his tent is on a small hill. Otherwise, I had the pleasure of screwing with two gliders first day. They were so close that I could see the stick movements. They have slightly larger radius of turn no one, so we were "flown round. Trude and Icelandic Hans and I were "gaggelen" inside sail planes. :-)

4 game so bad in the beginning, with clouds and low thermals. It was, however, set a task is 37 km east to Notodden. Many in the goal, and although I bombed out right below the start since I flew conservatively due. influenza. It is as always so that if one lands before the finish, it is hoped that those who come after the landing. Yes, it sounds perhaps a little disagreeable and ridiculous. Here you can read what various usagn from competition pilots means.

NC Hjartdal task 3

Daily Day May 23rd, 2009

Today there is a 57 km task at Notodden and down to Seljord, and up to Hjartdal again. Powerful thermals marked the day with up to 8 m / s path. Although I flew in the direction of the first 25 miles (!). When we got to the starting area after a turning point towards Notodden, there were shadows everywhere, and no thermals. It was like taking a sklitur a quiet summer night. Most of the country in Hjartdal, but Ron and Rolf were the only ones who came in goal today. Because there were so few pilots that did not exceed 25 km, is unfortunately not a valid day time. Tomorrow is the last day, so we'll see what termikkgudene has to offer. Hjartdal Log Book
